Frequently asked questions

  • Where do Far Corners races take place?
We host races in extraordinary, off-the-beaten-path destinations all across the world; from polar landscapes to remote mountain regions. Each event is carefully selected for its cultural depth, natural beauty, and meaningful local connection.

What makes Far Corners different from a normal race tour?
Far Corners are created with the ideal destination race in mind. We build immersive pre- and post-race experiences that include cultural activities, grassroots community engagement, and adventure components you won’t find on a standard tour.

Do I have to do the add-on tour?
No, we offer three separate packages: i) The Race (race only), ii) The Weekender (4D3N), and The Trailblazer (~10D9N). Most participants choose the longer expeditions as they are the gateway to deeper experiences.

  • Do I need to be an elite runner?
Not at all. Our events attract a wide range of abilities. What matters most is being appropriately prepared for the distance and terrain you’ve selected.

    How technical are the courses?
Courses vary by destination. Some include trails, altitude, extreme weather, or remote terrain. We provide detailed course profiles and recommended training guidance well in advance.

    Is there a cut-off time?
Yes, each race has cut-off times due to safety and permits. These are outlined in the specific event information pack.

  • How safe are these destinations?
We carefully assess all destinations and work with trusted local partners on the ground. Participant safety is our top priority. We monitor local conditions continuously and adjust plans if necessary.

What medical support is available on race day?
Race-day medical coverage varies by location but typically includes on-course medics, checkpoints, and emergency evacuation protocols where required. SOS features are included on race timing devices for emergency situations.

    Do I need travel insurance?
Yes. All guests require comprehensive travel insurance including medical evacuation and adventure/race coverage. Travel insurance specific to Antarctica is essential for FCT x The Iceberg.

  • What are the community projects?
All our destinations include interacting with optional community-driven projects: such as school visits, environmental initiatives, or locally led development programs. 5% of our tours costs also go towards supporting these locally-chosen programs.

    Is participation mandatory?
No. Participation is always optional, but highly encouraged.

    Where does the money go?
We prioritise transparency. Where a social contribution is included, we outline exactly how funds are directed to local partners.

  • How do payments work?
A non-refundable deposit secures your place (amount varies by expedition). The remaining balance is due by the final payment deadline outlined in your booking agreement. Payments via bank transfer (no fees) or via card (fee applies) possible.

    Can I pay in instalments?
Yes. Especially for Antarctica, we offer structured payment plans. Just let us know if you'd like one arranged.

What currency are trips priced in?
Trips are always priced in USD. Currency details are listed on each event page.

  • Are deposits refundable?
Deposits are generally non-refundable due to upfront logistics and local commitments. Please refer to Terms and Conditions for complete deposit terms.

What happens if I need to cancel?
Cancellation terms are outlined in your booking agreement. Refund eligibility depends on timing and supplier commitments. We strongly recommend travel insurance that covers cancellation.

What if the event is cancelled?
In the unlikely event that we must cancel, we will offer either a transfer to a future event or a full refund of costs minus handling fees.

  • What standard of accommodation can I expect?
Accommodation varies by destination and also throughout the tour itself - from expedition vessels to locally owned guesthouses and boutique lodges. We prioritise character, location, and safety over luxury (though some trips include both).

Will I have my own room?
Most accommodation options will be on a twin share basis. Single supplements is also available in limited supply and for a surchare as per the itinerary outline.

  • Are international flights included?
No, international flights are not included. You are responsible for arranging your own travel to the start point noted in your itinerary.
